Our Ministry~ Hernnhut

Then justice will dwell in the wilderness,
And righteousness remain in the fruitful field.
The work of righteousness will be peace,
And the effect of righteousness, quietness and assurance forever.
My people will dwell in a peaceful habitation,
In secure dwellings, and in quiet resting places,
Though hail comes down on the forest,
And the city is brought low in humiliation.
Blessed are you who sow beside all waters,
Who send out freely the feet of the ox and the donkey.

Isaiah 32:16-20 NKJV

Years ago, the Lord called my husband and I to a ministry of hospitality and rest for the Lord's people. We obeyed this call, moving our family from New England to the Midwest, specifically Wisconsin, to pursue the vision that He placed upon our hearts. Through a series of events where we experienced the Lord's hand moving in unusual ways, He has provided a place for us to begin our ministry. We are calling this place Hernnhut, a name chosen many years ago as the result of seeking the Lord in prayer. Hernnhut literally means, "The Lord's Watch or Shelter" and is taken from the establishment begun by the Moravian Nicholas von Zinzendorf (you can read more about the history of the original Hernnhut HERE). We believe that the Lord wants us to use this name for our ministry not to re-create the original Hernnhut, but in the spirit of the original Herrnhut--as a place of rest and prayer, quietness and worship.  We are in the process of renovating our home and seeking to renovate two specific outbuildings with the purpose of establishing resting places for the Lord's people.

We would like to use one of the the smaller outbuildings on our property (we have nicknamed this the "Missionary House") for housing individuals or families, as well as an attic area in our home itself. We would like to use our larger barn as a gathering place with other believers for singing hymns, fellowship, etc. The Lord provided these two buildings with our property  as well as extra room in our home for these purposes, we believe.  We are now taking steps and seeking the Lord's direction to renovate and restore them as we trust in Him for His provision and direction.

Please keep us in your prayers, dear friends; we are grateful for each of you lifting us before the Lord.

You may read more about our calling and ministry HERE.  The following is an excerpt from that description:

We want to eventually open our home to any Christian who is in need of solitude, direction, time away in a quiet setting for prayer, any Christian who would like to come away and seek the Lord for a time, who is weary, going through a severe trial and needs a respite, etc.

We would also like it to be open to Pastors, missionaries, laypeople who are seeking a time of rest and refreshment in prayer, solitude, working on a book project, seeking direction in their life, etc.

We would greatly appreciate your prayers.

What we would in essence like to do is to purchase a piece of land in a somewhat secluded setting, but close enough to a town, city, etc. where we could be connected with a local doctrinally-sound, Spirit-filled church.

Our hope is to first set up our home as a resting place and later possibly add small cabins where people could come and stay without charge.

We desire to develop the property in such a way to preserve the land in its natural beauty, but also to eventually add walking trails, benches, gardens, maybe a small chapel, etc. as a place of beauty, quietness, and prayer.

We are also hoping to have a time of fellowship, prayer and singing hymns once a week for anyone staying at the time and for anyone who would like to join us.

Years ago, I felt it placed upon my heart from the Lord to call this place Herrnhut (“The Lord’s Watch/Shelter”) after the Moravian Count Von Zinzendorf’s establishment  for persecuted Moravians.

We are asking for your prayers . . . please uphold us and lift us before the throne of grace as the Lord places it upon your heart. Our desire is that He would be glorified and that as E.M. Bounds says,

"What the Church needs to-day is not more machinery or better, not new organizations or more and novel methods, but men whom the Holy Ghost can use -- men of prayer, men mighty in prayer. The Holy Ghost does not flow through methods, but through men. He does not come on machinery, but on men. He does not anoint plans, but men -- men of prayer."
~E.M. Bounds
